Award-winning Canadian quartet debuts with Tchaikovsky program! The Rolston String Quartet was formed in 2013 in Banff, Canada. The quartet, named after Banff Centre founder and violinist Thomas Rolston, has won numerous awards since winning both the 12th Banff International String Quartet Competition and the 31st Yellow Spring Chamber Music Competition in 2016. For their debut album, the quartet chose Tchaikovsky, a piece they find irresistible. With youthful sensitivity, they sang Tchaikovsky's richly undulating compositions with a forward-thinking approach. The Children's Album, originally a piano piece, is a lovely arrangement by Rostislav Dubinsky, who was the first violin of the Borodin String Quartet. Naxos Japan
