Description:
The Argentinean pianist Gellner, who initially appeared on the Polish Chopin Society label as a player of historical pianos, has recently put his experience to use exclusively on contemporary pianos, and is gaining popularity in Japan through his frequent visits to the country. His live recording of "Brahms: Piano Concerto No. 2" (ALPHA 395) with the NHK Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tadaaki Otaka has attracted a great deal of attention, but this is his first solo Brahms work to appear on CD. This is his first solo CD of Brahms's works, and although written by a young composer, these works are said to have already been completed as Brahms's. Gellner's intelligent approach and deep expression, backed by his advanced technique, make this CD an enjoyable listening experience. Naxos Japan
