The birth of Gounod's "Faust" as interpreted in period style by Rousset] Gounod's "Faust" by Les Talents Lilique, led by Rousset, is now on stage. The cast includes Bernheim and Jans, but the most notable feature is the inclusion of the operatic comic version of the opera as it was first performed in 1859. In this version, there is dialogue without music, four acts instead of the usual five, and the added ballet music is not performed. Rousset's clear arrangement of the score highlights the value of this version. The booklet is 180 pages in the hardcover book type binding. Rousset has supported the breakthrough of the French classical music scene, and has revived not only baroque composers such as Lully and Handel, but also unknown opera composers of the pre- and post-classical period such as Traetta and Salieri, in painstakingly masterful performances.
