[Leo Nucci Sings His Signature Role as Figaro with Masterful Skill in the Splendid *The Barber of Seville* at the 2018 Verona Festival] The Verona Festival has become a popular summer tradition in Italy. Hugo de Ana, a master of the performing arts, conceived a spectacular stage design for *The Barber of Seville* on the grand stage of the Arena, featuring hedges symbolizing a “labyrinth of love” and a “giant rose”; the production premiered in 2007 to great acclaim. This video was recorded in 2018, marking the fourth season of this production following performances in 2009 and 2011. Leo Nucci, who also played Figaro in this production in 2007, returns to the role. He delivers a spirited performance and masterful singing that belies his 76 years. The role of Count Almaviva is played by Korchak, a rising star from Russia, while Bartolo is portrayed by Repole, a singer with a well-established reputation for his Rossini repertoire. and Rosina is played by the popular soprano Machaize.
