In 1698, Logrosino was born in Vittorio, at the heel of the Italian peninsula, and in the 1730s and 1750s, he produced a long series of operatic buffa masterpieces in his native Naples. He was considered one of the leading composers in this field. After studying in Naples with Veneziano (A. Scarlatti's biggest business rival in Naples), he became an organist for the bishop of Conza at the age of 30. There he began to compose music in earnest, and in addition to oratorios, he wrote many operas, and was the music director of chapels in Rome, Palermo, and Naples, while achieving great success in the theaters of those cities, and left behind many religious works. His style was flamboyant, reflecting the tastes of the public at the time, and the religious works included in this collection are also very appealing because of their familiarity. Stefano De Micheli is a gifted conductor of ancient music (many masterpieces are on his recordings), and his performances are especially stylish, backed up by his solid musical knowledge.Soprano Semenzato, a 2015 graduate of the Basel Schola Cantorum, and countertenor Raffaele Pé, a hotshot who has also released a CD of Cavalli's duets with La Veneziana.
