Description:
It is the middle of the 17th century and Max, a hunter in the forests of Bohemia and an expert marksman, has been having a bad time lately. He is not confident that he will do well in tomorrow's shooting competition. However, he is in a great hurry because if he does not win, his promise of marriage to his girlfriend Agathe may be annulled. Then comes Kaspar, a fellow hunter who has already sold his soul to the devil. Max goes to the valley of the wolves with Kaspar, who seduces him by saying, "I will teach you how to win..." Composed by Weber on a libretto based on German folklore in the early 19th century, this German-Romantic opera is a milestone in the history of opera, evolving from the Zingspiel (Mozart's "Escape from the Hind Palace," "The Magic Flute" etc.) to Wagner's "The Magic Flute" (Mozart's "The Magic Flute" etc.). The Magic Bullet" is a milestone in the history of German Romantic opera. This video features the new production by Matthias Hartmann at Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Myung-Whun Chung, who is in charge of the duo, musically depicts the contrast between the secular world of the people and the magical world of the Wolf Valley, and brings out the power and emotion of each.Julia Kreiter sings Agathe with passion, and Günter Groysbeck, who received a great ovation for his superb portrayal of Caspar's devilish character, and a host of other fine singers respond with superb vocal performances.
