Description:
Gentileschi was a female painter of the Caravaggio school in the 17th century. She learned painting from her father, who ran a workshop, and developed her outstanding talent from an early age. However, her life changed drastically when, at the age of 18, she was sexually abused by Agostino Tassi, a painter her father hired as a teacher for her. Although Tassi was convicted, Gentileschi was deeply traumatized in the course of the trial, and her psychology was depicted in her masterpiece, "Judith Beheading Holofernes," which is also well known. Later, she was accepted as the first female member of the Florentine Academy of Fine Arts, where she befriended many artists and left behind numerous works, but it is not difficult to imagine that the root of her success was her painful experiences in her youth. This album features 13 of her paintings, and the Academia d'Arcadia performs works that are appropriate to those paintings. Love, tears, battle... these titles seem to express her life in a nutshell.
