On November 22, 2017, the news of his sudden death shocked fans around the world. This album contains his singing at the Vienna State Opera from 1994 to 2016, one year before his death; his role as Onegin in "Eugeni Onegin" with noted conductor Kirill Petrenko in 2016 was one of Khorostovsky's biggest hits, but in this album he sang more as a Russian Although he is said to have been very ill for the 2016 performance, there is not a hint of ill health in his full-bodied singing.
