CVS (Château de Versailles Spectacles), a new label launched by the Palace of Versailles’ cultural events project team, is finally up and running! The Palace of Versailles’ cultural events project team, “Château de Versailles Spectacles,” has already successfully completed numerous projects in partnership with the Alpha label. They have now finally launched their own label, CVS. With the cooperation of “Little Tribeca,” a recording studio founded by legendary engineer Nicolas Bartholomew, their inaugural recording features *L’Art Fleurissant* by the 17th-century French composer Charpentier, who was often overlooked (the work that gave its name to Les Arts Florissants, a renowned ensemble that was among the first in the French early music scene to lay the groundwork for opera). The young ensemble Marguerite Louise features a quartet of elite musicians, including veteran recorder player Sébastien Marc and the brilliant harpsichordist Jean Rondeau—both members of the —Roban Faro on the viola da gamba and Anna Besson on the traverso, both members of “Nevermind”—reliable young talents abound everywhere! Charpentier’s exquisite and elegant musical world is truly unique to France’s “Great Century”— —This is the release of an incomparably lavish Baroque album in which the genius of Charpentier—who was shunned by Lully, the Royal Director of Music, and meticulously kept away from court life—resounds anew in the Palace of Versailles.
