Description:
Zelenka was born in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) and was active mainly in Dresden. He was a longtime assistant music director of the court orchestra in Dresden, but was never able to attain the position. This work was composed after his recovery from a serious illness in his later years, when he vowed to dedicate a mass to God when he recovered from his illness. It is a large-scale work with four soloists and orchestration, and takes about 70 minutes to perform. The work was awarded the "Saray" Grand Prize in the music category in 2011. Naxos Japan
