Description:
Juliette Hurel is a French-born flutist who studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and has been principal flutist of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra since 1998. She has made numerous recordings and her repertoire ranges from Haydn and Mozart to modern French works and contemporary works, and recently her charming performance of Mozart: Complete Flute Quartets (ALPHA 204) with the Vaucher Quartet was much talked about. This album focuses on J.S. Bach, and first picks up "Orchestral Suite No. 2" and two "Flute Sonatas" in which the flute plays an active role. Not only that, several works with flute obbligations in cantatas and other works are performed with soprano Viutrey, showing the role of the flute in Bach's works. The refined sound of the Ensemble Les Surprises is also a good match for Hurel's flute. Naxos Japan
