Both of his parents were folk musicians in Moldova, the former Soviet Union, and he was educated in the Central and Eastern European performance traditions of Oistrakh and Schevchik. He was a major figure in the field of modern and contemporary music. His recordings for NAIVE and ECM were also highly acclaimed, and in 2015, his remarkable breakthrough became known around the world. The first album to appear on the Alpha label in 2015 was "Take Two - With a Violinist". The booklet is a collection of duets with the best players of various instruments that he has performed with as a gift to his daughter Alice, and the booklet is a book-like publication with the full cooperation of Marco Borggreve, who is known for his artist photographs of many top players.Each of the recorded works is clearly and precisely explained in the style of an "explanation to my daughter Alice" (Japanese translation is included in the domestic edition), making this disc an excellent introduction to the unknown world of numerous works and composers from the medieval manuscripts to the Baroque to the present day.
