Requiem by Silvia Colasanti, a female composer born in Rome. She studied at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, won the European Composers' Prize, and in 2017 was awarded the Ufficiale of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by the President of Italy. This Requiem is a new work composed for the victims of the August 2016 "Earthquake in Central Italy" and given its world premiere at the 2017 Spoleto Festival. It is an innovative work that incorporates recitations and bandoneon sounds within the traditional requiem mass format. The beautiful and sad melody of the bandoneon solo in the eighth piece, "Perdonate" (Forgiveness), is especially memorable. Naxos Japan
