Since its debut it has been acclaimed not only by wind band enthusiasts but by classical audiences too, as a wind band that transcends the wind band. This CD is a live recording of the ensemble's fourth subscription concert, given on 28 April 2019 at the Aichi Prefectural Art Theater Concert Hall. The programme carried the subtitle "The Trapp Family: What Happened Next". As Maestro Tatsuya Suzuki puts it, "This programme is Masters Brass Nagoya's pops stage." What if the climbers of Strauss's Alpine Symphony had been the Trapp family? Enjoy the album by following that imaginary premise and picturing the road they travelled after leaving their homeland behind. Born in Yokohama. He graduated in trumpet from the high school attached to the Tokyo College of Music in 2001 and entered the conducting department of the Faculty of Music at the Tokyo University of the Arts. He received the Ataka Prize in 2004 and graduated top of his class in March 2005; that June he conducted the Geidai Philharmonia at the university's concert introducing its new graduates. He studied conducting with Kotaro Sato and Yasuhiko Shiozawa, trumpet with Akiyo Hayashi, and piano with Akiko Kitagawa, Yasuko Ida, Machiko Watanabe and Hanako Nishizawa. He has conducted the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra and the Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with many musicians including the pianist Noriko Ogawa and the organist Hatsumi Miura. His "sincere music-making, entirely free of gimmickry" has been widely praised. In opera he has served as assistant conductor and chorus master on numerous productions, among them Die Zauberflöte at the New National Theatre Tokyo, Die Zauberflöte for Nikikai, and Der Rosenkavalier in the co-production between Biwako Hall and the Kanagawa Kenmin Hall. He also worked as conducting coach on the television special "Nodame Cantabile: New Year Special in Europe" and the films "Nodame Cantabile: The Final Score, Parts I and II", part of his active commitment to "broadening the reach of classical music".
