In the world of the viola da gamba—a genre typically characterized by unaccompanied pieces—these concertos, written for duet, are a rarity. Combined with the unconventional structures characteristic of Saint-Colombe, who taught himself composition, and harmonic progressions that at times even feature bold dissonances, these works are truly unique and brimming with originality. Please enjoy the delicate and refined musical dialogue created by the viola da gamba, whose sound is reminiscent of the human voice.
