Six new live tracks have been added!! To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the legendary band the Pixies, *Complete B-Sides: 1988-97* has been remastered and is being revived today, 25 years after its original release... When this album was originally released on CD in 2001, the band had already been on hiatus for about 10 years. *Complete B-Sides: 1988-97* features 19 tracks released between 1988 and 1991 that were never released as singles. In addition to B-sides that could be called hidden gems of the Pixies—such as “Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf),” “Into the White,” and “The Thing”—the collection also includes rare tracks like the instrumental version of “Letter to Memphis,” which was previously only available on the U.S. edition of the “Alec Eiffel” maxi-single. Furthermore, this reissue includes six newly added live tracks, selected from later releases such as 1997’s “Debaser.” For this edition, Kevin Vanbergen—who has remastered many key 4AD releases—has remastered all tracks from the original analog tapes. The result is a remarkably fresh sound, marking the culmination of his remastering work on the Pixies’ catalog. Designer Chris Bigg (v23) created new artwork using previously unused photographs from Simon Larvalestier’s archive that were originally taken for the Pixies. Having worked with the band for many years, the two collaborated on this release and *Live at the BBC* simultaneously, completing them as works that pay tribute to and honor the late Vaughn Oliver (visual director). The domestic release includes a booklet with liner notes by Shunichi Otaka, a leading authority on the Pixies.
