The first six albums by the all-female band *Malaria!*, which took the turbulent West Berlin music scene by storm in the early 1980s, are being reissued all at once! In the early 1980s, the all-female band *Malaria!* rose to prominence in “West Berlin,” the city of the Wall that symbolized the Cold War. The group—comprising Bettina Kester and Gudrun Gut, joined by Manon Dourchma, Susanne Kuhnke, and drummer Christine Hahn (who also appeared as a guest on their debut release)—formed a five-piece lineup, and their first masterpiece EP is now making its Japanese debut. It features three tracks, including their signature song “Your Turn to Run” and “Duschen (Take a Shower),” which addresses the heavy history borne by their homeland, West Germany. As the title suggests, this EP was recorded in New York after Malaria! traveled to the U.S., and it also serves as their U.S. debut, released by “Cashalot Records.” While retaining the flavor of their previous work, they boldly incorporated electronic elements, deepening their style into a more up-tempo and straightforward sound—making this a signature work for Malaria! The cover photograph was taken by Ed Bertoglio, a New York-based photographer known for his work in fashion magazines such as *Vogue*. Featuring the latest 2026 digital remaster, this limited-edition release comes in a paper sleeve that recreates the design of the original album and is an exclusive release in Japan!
