COLA REN, the young Guangzhou-based producer who paints water with sound and poetry, debuts in Japan! Hailing from Guangzhou, China, the young producer COLA REN, who paints water with sound and poetry, has signed with the prestigious label Human Pitch and will release his new EP 'Mekong Ballad'! He also debuts his own vocals for the first time! The Japanese CD release will be an album-style edition featuring three bonus remix tracks! Human Pitch, the esteemed label presenting the forefront of ambient and experimental music—home to releases by artists like Salamanda and Le Frit—and run by Simisea (also operating the SLINK label) and Tristan Arp (who releases work on UK labels like Wisdom Teeth and is a member of Asa Tone), has signed the new Chinese producer/ COLA REN, based in Guangzhou, China. COLA REN is a young musician who paints the interstices of city and nature, memory and dreams with delicate soundscapes. He has garnered attention for his poetic instrumental works, utilizing field recordings and electronics.She breaks new ground in expression with her new work Mekong Ballad, which features her own voice for the first time. This work contains five ambient tracks inspired by the breath of the river and the weight of tropical air. The music drifts, melts, refracts, and returns like the reflection of light on flowing water. Fallen fruit, whispering currents, the haze of moonlight on the estuary—fragments of memory surface in this work, which is both a meditation on water and a journey through weightlessness and the search for belonging. COLA REN lends her vocals to the title track, with Chinese lyrics penned by J-Fever (Xiao Laohu). The addition of the human voice to the distinctive ambient sound creates a deeper, more expressive layer. Additionally, tga (saxophone), a star of China's free jazz scene, and rrrrrm (trumpet), an improvisational musician from Thailand, contribute to the tracks, bringing a rich flow of breath and resonance. Their performances add an organic, human pulse to COLA REN's fluid soundscape where rivers, memories, and dreams intertwine. Furthermore, the CD release exclusive to Japan will feature three remixes by Mong Tong, Guohan, and Wu Zhuoling, making it a full-length physical release containing both the original and remixed versions.
