The EP "extra life" got a lot of attention and Ghostly Intenational signed Bre Morell, frontman of Temple of Angels (Run For Cover Records), and Weekend, who had released works on Slumberland. The long-awaited first full-length album by crushed, a dream-pop duo consisting of Bre Morell, frontman of Temple of Angels (Run For Cover Records), and Shaun Durkan, former member of Weekend, who has also produced for Topographies, Young Prisms, and others, and who released their first album on Slumberland.
Morel, a Texas native now based in Los Angeles, and Durkan, who lives in Portland, Oregon, are not bound to any particular location, recording in separate locations.They craft the songs they want to hear based on their shared tastes in trip-hop, Britpop, electronica, and 90s alternative radio staples, a thirst for emotional expression, and an instinct for identifying moments that sound right and sincere and mean something real to them. They weave melodic, heartwarming hooks through a maze of breakbeats and sound design with unprecedented immediacy and clarity.
no scope" is the follow-up to their first collaboration, the EP "extra life" (the Japanese version includes a bonus track from the EP). Although "extra life" was originally released in 2023, it gained a large following and gained fans early on in media outlets such as Pitchfork and NPR, and the band signed a contract with Ghostly International, which allowed "extra life" to be released as a physical in 2024. It was released in 2024. Crushed then played their first live shows in the UK in early 2025, deepening new songs and live arrangements in preparation for the completion of the album. (1/3)
