What are we doing here? OATH" is the 12th album by MONO, a world-class instrumental rock band from Japan celebrating its 25th anniversary. OATH is a meditation on the theme of time and life in a myriad of ways. Recorded and mixed, of course, by longtime collaborator Steve Albini, the year 2020 has transformed what was once the essence of late-night stoner existentialism into an everyday mantra for nearly everyone on the planet. What do we do with the limited time we have in life? What is our purpose? What should we do? For the past 25 years, MONO has explored themes such as the relationship between darkness and light, hope in the face of disaster, and the duality of birth and death, and on "OATH," their 12th full-length album, the band contemplates the time that makes up life and how to make the most of it.
