Description:

The next song, "Come Visit Me," was written for Graham's girlfriend, a simple, sweet plea of homesickness to be with her in Los Angeles, a city he was secretly trying to adapt to. He ended up returning to Portland 11 months later and scrapping many of the songs he had written in LA. But he kept a few, including this gentle, bass-grooved slow jam, to which he added a verse from his two-decade perspective. Shee" was written with his girlfriend on guitar, and every phrase shines with simple love. Drifting through this daydreamy haze of sounding strings and humming, the looping drums of the following "Leave It" jump in. Over a small rhythm, piano and guitar are layered on top of each other before flowing into a sublime ambient psychedelic jazz outro. He returns to the piano on "I Am Close To The River" to break the creative rut. The song seems to be based on a spiritual experience he had along the Willamette River, and he put it down on paper as soon as he got home, taking his time to complete the pastoral arrangement with a mix of twinkling chimes, saturated percussion, and orchestral strings by Elliot Cleverdon. The result is an idyllic arrangement of sparkling chimes, saturated percussion and orchestral strings by Elliot Cleverdon.Everything is Different (To Me), a highlight of the album's second half, features catchy guitar loops, classic hip-hop drum breaks, string swells, and sly chord progression changes that spell out Graham's apathetic In contrast to the lyrics of the song, the new machine's features are incorporated at once. The final track, "Wy," fades from a series of haunting questions into an expansive outro composed of airy synthesizers, his contemplative guitar, and soothing water drops, and the final track, "Otto's Dance," is a mix of his favorite Brazilian albums, Milton It ends with a brief instrumental afterthought reminiscent of his favorite Brazilian album, "Clube Da Esquina" by Nascimento and Lo Borges. The Long and Short of It is a compilation of transitions, self-affirmations, and giant leaps in the young artist's life. At just 20 years of age, the prodigy of Generation Z, quicky, quickly, is in his element on this new album. (2/2)*Square paper-jacket edition*Includes commentary, lyrics, and bilingual translation.
