Performance" is a British crime drama film directed by Donald Camel and Nicholas Roeg, filmed in 1968 but not released until 1970 due to its extreme nature. This album was released as the soundtrack of the film, and it features M-8, a number co-written with Keith Richards and sung by Mick Jagger, who starred in the film, Ry Cooder's sharp slide guitar, a strange instrumental by Jack Nitschke, Mary Clayton, whose voice is hard to imagine from the image of the backing singers, and poetry reading by the pioneering rap group The Last Poets. The song is a mixture of various musical elements, such as Mary Clayton's unimaginable singing voice, and poetry reading by rap pioneer The Last Poets, and is now as highly acclaimed as the film itself.
