＜This is the first volume in the Seduction of British Folk/Trad series. One of the most famous guitarists and singers in the history of British folk music, and one of the most important founding members of Pentangle. After his wandering, he released his first solo album in 1965, and it became his masterpiece. Although there are influences of American blues and folk, this is a rich work with an established originality. (Excerpt from the CD commentary)The memorable first song on this album, released on April 16, 1965, is "Strolling Down the Highway," which poetically describes his wandering life up to that point. Smokey River" and "Casbah" are adaptations of Jimmy Juffrey's "Train and River" (1958) and Charles Mingus' "Better Get It In Your Soul" (1959), respectively. Alice's Wonderland" was also inspired by Mingus' song of the same name (1959). Neil Young borrowed (unknowingly) the melody of "Needle of Death" in "Ambulance Blues" from "On the Shore" (1974), and he featured the song in 2014's "Letter Home," expressing renewed respect for the film and Jansch.Commentary: Masaru Konishi
