Hammond (Roy C.) is an American Southern Deep Soul singer and songwriter who began his musical career as a tenor vocalist in the doo-wop group, The Genies, and is best known for his 1965 hit "Shotgun Wedding". He has also gained strong support from the hip-hop scene, including many sampling followers in later years, such as "Impeach the President" with the teenage group Honey Drippers of Queens, New York. Sex and Soul" was released in 1973 on the Mercury label, and was the first album that established his career as a new solo singer. It was highly recommended by music magazines and became popular among Japanese soul fans in real time.From the horn-laden novelty touch of "Got To Get Enough (Of Your Sweet Love Stuff)" (M-2) to the royal Southern ballad "I'm Falling In Love Again" (M-3), the album offers a lighthearted mix of up-tempo and slow numbers.
