US Release Series] The Who's second US album is back in a complete STEREO/MONO recording! Produced by Kit Lambert, the second album "A Quick One" (Reaction/UK #4/mono) was released in December 1966, and while Townsend was in complete control of the songwriting for the first album, all four members contributed their own compositions. The first album, "One" (Reaction/English #4/mono), was produced under an unusual production system in which all four members contributed their own compositions to the album. The manager's intention was to provide financial relief to the members by having Essex Music advance the songwriting royalties. This policy, which Townsend called "democratic," was further reinforced by the decision not to cut a single from the album (strictly speaking, the only single cut was "Whiskey Man," which was released as the B-side to the American single "Happy Jack"). released as the B-side to the U.S. single "Happy Jack").The second album in the U.S. was released in May, with the title changed from "A Quick One" to "Happy Jack" (#67) on the U.K. release, and the only cover, "Love is a Heat Wave" (originally by Martha & the Vandellas), replaced by the hit title track. While the previous album had two songs by James Brown, one by Bo Diddley (UK release only), and all but one co-written by the three members and Nicky Hopkins, the US release featured five Townsend originals out of the ten songs, including "Run Run Run," "Happy Jack," Don't Look Away," "So Sad About Us," and "Quick One," and the remaining five songs were all written by the other three members. ～The remaining five songs were all written by the other three members of the band.
