BANTAMS

Description:

The world's youngest? The Bantams, the original natural lo-fi sibling garage band, are a charming, hipster band of three brothers with an average age of 10.3 years old♪ They are the youngest band in the world. The Bantams are the youngest band in the world. The Bantams are the youngest band in the world, but their singing is so young that they can't even reach the right pitch, and their voices are not fully developed. I can't say "Oh! Boys Geniuses! They are just like little kids in the neighborhood. The recording was done by session musicians, but this is the only album in which these kids cheekily sing all sorts of classic rock and roll songs, mainly Beatles numbers, as they please. It was released in the U.S. by Warner Brothers in the spring of 1966, more than 50 years ago. It must have been nearly 40 years ago that I found and imported this album from a used mail order store in the United States. But as soon as I put the needle down on the LP I received.... I remember that I felt as if my body was collapsing. I remember the feeling of weakness that said, "What the hell is this?I had a feeling of regret that I might have bought something weird, but as I let the needle move forward, my body began to 'adapt' in a strange way. I was suddenly feeling positive and thought, "I might have gotten something interesting. By the time I finished listening to the last track on the B-side, I found this indescribable slowness (or is it bad?) to be quite endearing. By the time you finish listening to the last song on the B-side, this indescribable sloppiness (or is it just bad at it?) is somehow cute and pleasurable, and you feel "addicted to it. It's like my body is 'craving' it. ~From the commentary by Toru Ueshiba
