Johnny Barnett, a charismatic figure in the neo-rockabilly scene. A historic masterpiece featuring the overdriven electric guitar classic “Honey Hush,” along with “Rockabilly Boogie” and “The Train Kept a-Rollin’.” Johnny Barnett, a charismatic figure in the neo-rockabilly scene, formed a drumless rockabilly band with his brother Dorsey Barnett (b) and Paul Barrison (g). They began performing locally. After taking a demo tape to Sun Records, which was not well-received, they signed with Coral Records a few years later and released the tracks included on this CD. Although they did not become nationwide hits, their danceable songs and sound—which transcended the boundaries of rockabilly—have since been appreciated by younger generations. As a result, following the rise of punk and neo-rockabilly initiated by the rockers in the UK, they have been re-evaluated here as well. The guitar sound spewing from the overdriven guitar amp was so powerful it almost sounded as if they were using a fuzz pedal. This CD is a reissue of their first album, recorded as a trio—the only one of its kind—and stands as one of the most important albums in rock history.
