Derby, UK-based emo/post-hardcore band CrashOfRhinos releases their new album, *Logbook*, their first in 13 years. While their unique ensemble—featuring five voices, two guitars, two basses, and a drum kit—remains intact, their sound has deepened into introspection and transformed into an organic resonance. This album captures the new equilibrium they’ve reached after crossing paths once again after all this time. Derby, UK-based emo/post-hardcore band CrashOfRhinos has released their new album, *Logbook*, their first in 13 years. Following their previous album *Knots*, this release is not merely a comeback album, but a work that captures the very trajectory of their paths crossing once again after time and distance have passed. Self-produced by the band, the album was recorded in unique settings such as an abandoned library and a remote barn in Cumbria. Having quietly restarted four years ago, this album—shaped over a long period of time—strongly reflects a sense of deliberation and accumulated experience, distinct from their earlier impulsiveness. Having disbanded in 2014 immediately after the release of their second album, *Knots*, they reunited in Derbyshire in 2021 to mark the 10th anniversary of their debut album, *Distal*. The time they spent playing songs to explore the possibility of an anniversary concert did not end as mere nostalgia. The band’s “chemical reaction” was still very much alive—indeed, it was stronger than ever. As a result, they scrapped their plans for an anniversary concert and shifted their focus toward creating new music. Their unique ensemble—once described as “Five voices, 2 guitars, 2 basses, and a drum kit”—remains intact on this album. Yet the sound is far from a mere recreation. Through the changes in each member’s life, the broadening of their horizons, and the deepening of their mutual understanding, the sound has evolved into something mellower, yet simultaneously more introspective and intense. With multi-layered, intertwining vocals; guitars that combine sharpness with space; twin basses that shift the center of gravity; and drums that bind the whole together—while retaining its structural beauty, the former chaos has transformed into a more organic undulation, and the contrast between stillness and movement takes on deeper shades of nuance. "Logbook" is not a work that simply extends the past. Rather, it is a record of a new equilibrium born from the band’s reunion after time has passed. The soundscape, where the purity of passion and a mature perspective clash, eloquently testifies to the fact that CrashOfRhinos continues to evolve.
