Description:

Mambo," the Cuban music that took the world by storm in the 1950s. The records and materials left behind by music critic Toyo Nakamura were donated to Musashino Art University. The music critic Nakamura Toyo has donated his records and materials to Musashino Art University. This is a sequel album to the revised series of "The Myth of Rumba (Paris)" (DISCOLOGIA-010) and "The Myth of Rumba (New York)" (DISCOLOGIA-011), which were well received from the year before last to last year. This 2-CD album is a definitive edition of the music mambo that symbolizes the era when Cuban music was at its most glamorous. Touyo Nakamura had released two edited mambo albums on her own label, Soup Records (LP era) and Audiobooks (CD era), respectively. As is typical of Mr. Toyo, each album contains not only the best performances by the top bands of the mambo heyday, but also a very wide variety of sound sources, from historical sources that could be considered the roots of mambo, to unknown B-class bands. This "Revised Edition" is a 2-CD set that includes not only many of the great performances from such albums, but also some of the great songs that Katsunori Tanaka of Diskolohia discovered afterwards. The first disc features a selection of recordings from around the 1950s, when famous musicians such as Pérez Prado, Machito's Orchestra, Tito Puente, and Tito Rodríguez were at their best. and Tito Rodriguez. In addition, the second disc features pre-mambo masterpieces by Arsenio Rodriguez and Arcaño, as well as performances by Anselmo Sacasa and other Cubans active in the earliest days of New York Latin, to trace the mainstream of mambo history. The second disc features a number of unknown masterpieces by "individualists" who have been left out of the "authentic history," but whose unique brilliance can still be enjoyed. The second disc, which could be called a "mambo external history," offers a playful selection of music that is typical of Toyo's style. In the audiobook era, the year of recording was unknown, but this time, we have done a thorough research. So, it is much more informative. Furthermore, the sound quality of the reissue is incomparable to that of the audiobooks, since it is a discolohia album. The booklet with detailed explanations and valuable photos is as usual, and is truly a "definitive" edition. The screeching horns and the pounding beats will relieve any stress you may be feeling when you immerse yourself in the mambo. In that sense, this album is a must-have for life. And it is this work that I recommend to those who have shunned mambo in the past.
