Since the 21st century, one of the genres that has been widely disseminated to the world is popular music from the Sahara Desert in Africa. While it was undoubtedly "Tinariwen," the "hero of desert blues," who kicked off this trend, there has also been a succession of music that has a different genealogy from the desert blues that should be discussed. One singer who has attracted particular attention is Asisa Brym, a female singer from the Western Sahara, a country bordering Morocco, Algeria, and Mauritania. This new album is her first release in four years after the Corona disaster. The title "Mawja" means "wave" in Arabic, and in this album, it refers to various musical, emotional, and historical waves. The album reflects Asisa's musical journey and personal experiences, especially her exile from Western Sahara, growing up in a refugee camp, and living in different regions. (C)RS
