Tomoya Hara (Gt) and Hiromi Masuda (A.sax) Duo session by two virtuoso musicians. Selected from dozens of songs played at the jazz bar "Big River" in Higashi-Nakano, Tokyo. Like a literal "small orchestra," the guitar spins out colorful ad-libs like silkworms, sometimes with bass lines, sometimes with backing, stretching to any length, while the saxophone, like a horribly responsive engine, responds to it and draws out the detail of the song. It is a pleasant feeling as if one's spirit is liberated. With only two instruments, the sound that should be there is naturally placed at the length it should be there. The music is relaxed, but the performance is thrilling and never boring. Isn't this a marvelous thing? The songs are so familiar that you can't help but hum along with the themes.
