First Release! Tenshött and the NDR Symphony Orchestra's Final Concert. The Spectacular Paris Performance of Mahler's "Giant" After this spectacular performance on March 6, 1981, Tenshött and the NDR Symphony Orchestra parted ways forever. The following day, March 7, brought further twists of fate for the NDR Symphony Orchestra. First release from the original master tape recorded by Radio France. Tennstedt and the NDR Symphony Orchestra's final concert. European Tour, March 6, 1981, Paris. The conflict between Tennstedt and the orchestra's management reached its peak in Paris, leading to their final parting after this intense performance of the "Titan." The management scheduled Kondrashin for the Amsterdam concert the following day, the 7th, preparing the same "Giant." After the concert, Kondrashin tragically passed away. At this time, Kondrashin's rehearsal was reportedly only one hour (some say there was no rehearsal at all). It seems reasonable to consider that the prototype for Kondrashin's legendary performance was already present in Tennstedt's interpretation from the previous day or earlier. Historically, the performances by Tennstedt on the 6th and Kondrashin on the 7th must be considered as a set. With the debut of Tennstedt's performance on the 6th this time, the full picture has finally been revealed.The arrival of this Spectrum disc reveals the "Norddeutscher Rundfunk Tragedy Chain Incident" through sound, deeply stirring emotions as it connects the events of the 6th in Paris to the 7th in Amsterdam. Once again, a triumph for Spectrum, the guardian label of historical recordings. It can be called a bombshell release. Sound quality is excellent. ※Please note that in Mahler's Symphony No. 1, 1st Movement (Total Time 21:45-22:38), there is a very slight distortion in the right channel. ※The same concert featured soloist Martha Argerich performing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2. The distributor aimed to release this as well, but unfortunately, the magnetic tape was in poor condition, preventing its release on CD. SPECTRUM SOUND
