Description:

Beethoven: The Soul of the World Included in this album Violin Concerto in D major, Op.61 (Cadenza: Kreisler) David Oistrakh (violin), Orchestre National de Radio France, Francesco Mandel (conductor) Recording: February 7, 1973 / Theatre des Champs Elysées, Paris (live) (stereo) Violin Sonata No.4 in A minor, Op.23 David Oistrakh (violin), Lev Oborin (piano) Recorded: June 18, 1962 / Studio of the French National Radio (Recorded for broadcast)(Monaural) Spectrum Sound is gaining recognition for its careful reissue. From the popular series of authorized reissues from the sources owned by the Institut National d'Audiovisuel (INA) comes the first authorized release of Beethoven's concerto performed by the great master Oistrakh on February 7, 1973 at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. Beethoven's concerto is one of the most frequently performed works in Oistrakh's lifetime. The violin tone of Oistrakh's violin, which sings like a singer with a lot of very fine vibrato and tenuto, is particularly brilliant and captivated the audience.INA is well preserved, and I am happy to say that the recording is in stereo. Such a lustrous tone can only be heard in a performance by the maestro Oistrakh. The bonus track is Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 4 with Lev Oborin, recorded on June 18, 1962, in the studio of the French National Radio. The duo recorded the entire Beethoven cycle at the same time, but this is a different recording, made for broadcast on June 18. Please enjoy this mellow and fragrant performance! *Japanese obi and commentary are not included. (King International)
