Coco Jean, a soul singer who fronted the funk band The Excitements in the 2010s, is making a comeback with her new group, The Tonics. Barcelona-based singer Coco Jean burst onto the scene in the 2010s as the front singer of the funk band The Excitements. She has now completed her second album, "Love Child," with her new group, The Tonics. The first three songs are soul-oriented, but after that, the album strays into rhythm & blues, swing, and rock & roll, creating a diverse world that traverses genres at will. The first three songs are more soul-oriented, but later they lean toward rhythm & blues, swing, and rock & roll.Coco Jean's powerful songs explode over the tight track! The cover of the killer instrumental "You Can't Sit Down," familiar to Booker T. and the Shangri-Las, is also great! Backing Tonix are Danny Barraldez, who is also a member of Los Mambo Jambos, on guitar, Victor Puertas on Hammond organ, a friend from the Excitements days, and Mark Benaiges on drums/percussion. The group is made up of the best players of the Barcelona scene. Coco Jean's new challenge has borne fruit in this new and exciting work!
