Cozmic Corridors
Description:
Produced by German rock genius Toby Robinson and featuring members of Mitos, this meditative dark ambient album from Cologne, the birthplace of Krautrock, is a great example of the depths of the underground scene in Cologne, the birthplace of KAN. The Cosmic Corridors was first released in the 1970s. Cosmic Corridors is a group from Cologne, Germany, which was active in the early 1970s and was led by Alex Meyer, a keyboard player, and Hans-Jürgen Pütz, a drummer of Mitos, known for "Dreamlab". This is their only album, produced by Toby Robinson, "The Mad Twiddler," an engineer who worked with Stockhausen and Kann, and released on the Pyramid label, which Toby had been running. It was independently distributed and only a limited number of copies were pressed, so it was a cult record that was not even on the radar of collectors for a long time until it was discovered on a Virgin label compilation in the mid-90s, but its sound is surprisingly fresh and relevant today.Using Moog, Hammond, guitar, chorus, percussion, and effects, the band creates a unique ambient style that is dark, gothic, horror meditative, and resonant with Popol Vuh and Ashe La Tempel. Alan Freeman, author of the Krautrock book "A Crack in the Cosmic Egg," contributed the liner notes (Japanese bilingual translation attached).
