The new album by Rico Friebe, a mysterious German singer/songwriter who has emerged rapidly with his ever-changing style of acoustic pop, R&B, and downtempo music. The album is full of gentle yet dignified folky sounds that gently nestle in the quietness of winter, and it is a good album that sinks into your heart and body! A veteran German producer who was active in the club scene and whose talent was recognized by such heavyweights as Sven Feit and Claude VonStroke, suddenly turned singer/songwriter during the pandemic and started releasing songs as Rico Friebe.This is their fifth album. The opening track, "Requiem," is colored by a solemn chorus, but from the second track onward, it is a series of simple, deeply moving songs, mainly featuring acoustic guitar playing and a pleasant chorus. The songs were born from the sublimation of personal sorrows and hardships. The songs were bitter yet dignified, and the world of life-size little songs with various tastes blossomed beautifully. Most of the songs are less than three minutes long, and the nostalgic sound, reminiscent of the four-and-a-half-tatami-meter folk of the donut vinyl era, brings back distant memories.
