A solo album by JB Dunkel of Yale, a pioneer of the French touch along with Phoenix and others. The album is an exquisite blend of electronica and live sound, danceable, cinematic, soft, and endlessly comfortable, and is filled with Yale's trademark elements that will move fans to tears. Yale, along with Daft Punk and Phoenix, led the French Touch movement in the late 90's, and gained wide popularity straddling the boundaries between dance and rock. One half of the band, JB Dunkel (Jean Benoit Dunkel), has completed his long-awaited new solo album, following his work on the soundtrack of Francois Ozon's film "Summer of 85. The lead single, "Corporate Sunset," is a colorful dance number that is melodic and euphoric, with a krautrock-like propulsion. Heather d'Angelo of Au Revoir Simone guests on vocals for "Space."The ambient instrumental "Shogun," which was inspired by Japan, the electro beat of "Dare," the exquisite "Zombie Park," with its exquisite robo-voiced accents, the atmospheric "Sex Ufo," and all the other songs are a unique and diffuse mixture of electronica and live sound. The entire work is a diffuse reflection of Yale's trademark, unique shimmer. The entire work is littered with the very elements that are Yale's trademark. This is his first solo work in four years, and third in total, since 2018's "H+". Released on Prototyp Recording, which he presides over.
