This is the second solo album on the Deewee label, produced by the Diwara brothers of Soulwax and featuring guest appearances by Benny Andersson of Abba, and a very different and personal album made in the midst of the pandemic. James Leighton's second solo album on the Soulwax-led Deewee label. James got the idea for this new album in 2020, in the midst of the first pandemic lockdown. At the time, his previous album, The Performer, had just been released. As James worked on the live distribution for the promo, he became aware of the presence of another James-Jim standing in the screen. In this new world, cut off from any real connection, in a solitary dialogue with Jim, and even working remotely with both of Soulwax, James completed "Jim, I'm Still Here".The 12 tracks include the slow electro "Release Party" from the "DeeweeFoundations" compilation, the upbeat funk number "Pause" (video directed by Julian Klinswicks) from the latest single, the mellow DIY escapist soul of "A Day AtThe Races," the tropical "Lover Boy," "Empty Rooms" featuring Abba's Benny Andation, and 12 other tracks. The album is one of the most unique works of his career, with a personal mood that is hard to imagine from his glamorous career that took the world by storm with the Klaxons and was selected to be in the backing band for Abba.
