Description:

One Reach! The 9th CD of the Deer Ring Tokyo OrchestraThe 9th CD of the Deer Ring Tokyo Orchestra features three pieces. Bizet's Symphony is one of Nishiwaki's memorable pieces, which he performed as an extra in the orchestra in December of his second year of high school (1966), the first time he participated in his long-cherished dream of playing the cello, which he had started at the age of 16 the previous year. Composed at the age of 17 while Bizet was a student at the Conservatoire de Paris, the piece is lively, fresh, and full of the breath of youth. Although Bizet died at the young age of 36, it seems to have the same performance difficulties as those of Schubert and Mozart, who died prematurely at the ages of 31 and 35, or Mendelssohn, who died at the age of 38. The Deering Tokyo Orchestra was named after the Bayreuth Festival Theatre, Wagner's sacred place, and since its foundation, one of its goals has been to perform Wagner's works, and the first step was taken with "Siegfried Pastorale". The first performance of "Siegfried Pastorale" was given by friends on Christmas morning, December 25, 1870, the birthday of Liszt's daughter Cosima, who remarried Wagner, and was dedicated to Cosima. The previous year, in 1869, his first son, Siegfried, was born, and he is full of joy and happiness. The third piece, "Unfinished Symphony," was performed by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Raphael Kubelik in April 1965, when Nishiwaki was in his second year of high school. It gave me goosebumps and made me want to play in an orchestra, and it is the piece that inspired me to start playing the cello. The Unfinished Symphony was recorded on the occasion of their September 2019 performance at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. 2013 marks eight years since I formed DRT and began recording them. I have been following their performance recording activities for a long time, and I'm happy to see that they have finally reached this point. The quality of this CD is excellent. It is not a dictatorship, but a democracy, and I think it is one of the goals of Yoshinori Nishiwaki in creating the sound of the orchestra. From the liner notes (Tetsuo Ohara) Universal Music/IMS
