Nagaoka Kyo Chamber Ensemble

Description:

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary Nagaokakyo Sound at its Finest! The starting point is a Noh dance experienced in France, Tchaikovsky's "Serenade for Strings" recorded for the first time in 15 years, and the 9th CD of the Nagaokakyo Chamber Ensemble, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017, is Gleick's "From the Age of Holbea" (Holberg Suite) and Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings. The most distinctive feature of the Nagaokakyo Chamber Ensemble is that it performs as an ensemble, listening with all of its senses, not with the eyes, but with the ears. This is the origin of the following experiences that music director Yuko Mori had in Lyon and Paris when she was an assistant professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon at the time. The recording was made at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Small Hall on the occasion of the 2017 Tokyo concert. This is the second recording of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings, the first in 15 years, since 2001. The extra track, Gleick's "Two Sad Melodies," was recorded in 2003 at the Hikarigaoka IMA Hall in Tokyo, Japan, showing that the unchanging sound, which cannot be replaced elsewhere even after a 13-year gap, and the vivid and fresh sound has been inherited even though the members have changed. There was an opera performance of "Turandot" choreographed by Eio Kanze. The stage I saw from the orchestra pit was so stunning that it changed the course of my life. It was a stage set up with split bamboo arches, and in the enigmatic and fantastic light shining through the bamboo, the ballet choreographed by Eio Kanze was performed by a Frenchman, but the movements seemed to have been created from Japanese Noh, and the power in the center of the body, the tanden, was magnificent. Later, I learned that Mr. Kanze was giving a workshop in Paris, and I went to see it. He danced Paul Claudel's "Woman and Shadow" with a young apprentice without masks. Although they did not see each other, there was not the slightest difference between the two dancers, and they literally danced as if they were in shadow. This is the "Ki" that Japanese people feel. I realized that this is what I was aiming for, this is what I was aiming for in my musical expression. I think about 20 years of Nagaokakyo Chamber Ensemble. From the liner notes by Tadashi Yamanouchi Universal Music/IMS
