Furtwängler & the Vienna Philharmonic, Bruckner in Stuttgart: “Romantic” 2 tracks, 38 cm, open-reel tape reissue ■From the Producer Two live recordings of Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4, “Romantic,” performed by Furtwängler and the Vienna Philharmonic, are known to exist: one from Stuttgart (October 22, 1951) and one from Munich (October 29, 1951). Although the October 29 performance was released first, the October 22 recording—released later—offers even clearer sound quality, and it is generally considered the preferred choice between the two. This release has been restored from a 2-track, 38-centimeter open-reel tape, bringing the performance back to life with the utmost fidelity.
