A new, outstanding recording has arrived for these two masterpieces, which can be considered representative works of the “Symphonies in E-flat Major.” =Orchestra Libera Classica= An orchestra that performs primarily classical music using period instruments. Led by cellist Hidemi Suzuki, who serves as its artistic director, the orchestra was founded in 2001 and gave its inaugural performance in May 2002. Comprising over 30 members from Japan and abroad who engage in specialized research and performance, the ensemble has garnered attention for its fresh vitality and innovative approach. In addition to shedding new light on Haydn’s early and mid-period symphonies—which are by no means widely known—the orchestra performs the “Paris Symphonies,” Mozart’s famous symphonies and serenades, and Beethoven’s symphonies.
