In 2013, the "Berliner Philharmoniker Octet" made a new start with the addition of Japan's world-class violinist Daishin Kashimoto, Gross on viola, Dohr on horn, and Biron on bassoon, who are literally the "faces" of the Berlin Philharmonic in the 21st century. The long-awaited recording of "Schubert: Octet", which was well received during their performances in Japan in January 2014 and January 2017, is finally being realized! The recording director is Christoph Franke, an engineer of the Berlin Philharmonic who is well versed in their music. The eight world-famous musicians each have their own distinctive sound, and the ensemble's excellence shines through. The music conveys Schubert's message in a natural way, and many people are sure to discover the charm of the Schubert Octet in a new way. The musicians never agree to release recordings they are not satisfied with, and this is a valuable recording. The Berliner Philharmoniker Octet, the oldest chamber music group of the Berlin Philharmonic, was formed about 80 years ago to perform the Schubert Octet recorded here.
