Though they’re known as a comedy metal band, their musical prowess is top-notch. In today’s world, where grim realities abound, we need bands just like them! [Includes Japanese liner notes] Germany’s pride and joy, the king of comedy metal, J.B.O. The band’s origins date back to 1989. They started out as a joke project called JamesBlastOrchester. They gained attention with a style that involved arranging famous songs in a metal style while boldly rewriting the lyrics. In 1994, their song “EinguterTagzumSterben” became a hot topic on local radio, completely changing the situation. Despite being a demo track, they were flooded with inquiries, prompting the hastily produced EP *EineguteCDzumKaufen*, which became a local hit. The following year, in 1995, they made their full-scale debut with the album *Explizite Lyrik*. Although an indie release, the album achieved unprecedented sales and eventually charted on the German album charts. They continued to expand their popularity with subsequent releases such as *Laut!* in 1997 and *Meister der Musik* in 1998. They proved their musical prowess, demonstrating that they were more than just a parody band. They were particularly highly regarded as a live act; in 1997, they performed nearly 100 shows and drew a total audience of over 100,000, solidifying their position within Germany. Now, they are releasing a new album. Their 15th album is titled *HausOfTheRisingFun*. This album can be seen as J.B.O.’s unique response to the chaotic modern world, packed with songs brimming with humor, satire, and energy. It showcases their signature sense of balance—not only making listeners laugh but also prompting them to reflect. Produced by Christoph Beyerlein and the band themselves, the sound strongly reflects the distinct character J.B.O. has cultivated over the years. Even in today’s world, where a heavy reality prevails, J.B.O. continues to illuminate the world with the power of laughter and music.
