A piece surrounded by pop and soft rock, with superb vocals pouring out. This is a mature album that attracts old fans, but also appeals to a new group of fans. The arrangements by Don Costa, who wields the baton, as well as the songs and vocals, are all wonderful. The confident beginning of the album starts with M-1 by Bacharach and M-2 by The Beatles, followed by the royal road. M-3 by The Fortunes, M-4 by Len Barry, and the exhilaration of the female chorus interspersed with oldies standards. M-7, a familiar Ramsey Lewis cover, is followed by Barbara Lewis' M-8, Teddy Randazzo's hidden waltz-like masterpiece M-10,11, and finally Leslie Gore's M-12, a masterpiece with no throwaways. The bonus tracks are eight gems from the same period's albums from 1964 to 1966. All of them are in the golden lineage, but M-16 in particular tips its hat to Don Costa's string-driven dreamy bossa. The final track, M-20, a favorite of Sinatra, closes the album in silence. Commentary: Minoru Wakasugi
