This long-awaited compilation highlights the songwriting side of Al Cooper's early career as a keyboardist, composer, producer, and singer/songwriter. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Al Cooper taught himself to play an instrument and made a name for himself as a player on Bob Dylan's recordings and in groups such as the Blues Project and Blood Sweat and Tears. He is also a top-notch songwriter, having written the debut song "Diamond Ring of Love" for Gary Lewis & The Playboys. This CD is a compilation album highlighting songs written by Al Kooper. In addition to the aforementioned "Diamond Ring of Love," the CD features 23 songs by a wide range of artists and songs from unknown girl groups, beat bands, R&B singers, jazz singers, and Al's own group.This compilation is a must-have for all rock fans, documenting the pioneering footsteps of a turbulent era in which rock music absorbed various musical elements such as jazz, soul, blues, and country and gained citizenship as a mainstream form of popular music!
