The album "Copy Cats" (1988), which covers all oldies from the 50s and 60s, was Johnny Thunders' last studio album. This album is a masterpiece that shows Johnny's love of music and sharpness, as he had a deep knowledge of oldies due to his sister's influence. This "gorgeous and gorgeous picture scroll" is a complete artistography of the roots of all the songs on the album, as well as the original covers that he performed on his albums and live performances from the New York Dolls and the Heartbreakers to his solo career. The liner notes by Gaku Torii (a rock critic who was a close friend of Johnny's) are also a pleasure to read. Listening to this album and learning about the original songs that Johnny loved and covered will give you a deeper understanding of the essence of Johnny Thunders, and will be the beginning of a new musical journey to discover the depth and splendor of the roots music behind "rock 'n' roll".
