A film adaptation of a semi-autobiographical screenplay by up-and-coming director Shun Nakagawa The director is Shun Nakagawa, a rising star who made his commercial feature film debut with *The Girl Who Never Graduates*, based on the short story collection by Naoki Prize-winning author Ryo Asai, and who was also highly acclaimed for *Ka “” Ku “” Shi “” Go “” To “*. Drawing on his experience caring for his mother, the director created characters based on himself and his mother, resulting in this semi-autobiographical film. Soma Yamatoji, who landed the lead voice acting role in *How Will You Live?* and has garnered attention for his appearances in hit productions such as the drama *Chihayafuru: Meguri*, plays Yu Fujimura, a high school senior living alone with his mother, Misaki, who suffers from a serious illness. Misaki, the mother, is played by Miho Kanno, who is raising her own children and has taken on a series of mother roles in films such as *Dear Family* and *About a Place in the Kinki Region*. The two lead actors sincerely portray a mother and son who, despite harboring diametrically opposed and contradictory emotions, possess a deep tenderness and consideration for one another. The theme song, “0.2mm,” was written specifically for this film by Motoki Omori. It gently accompanies the mother and son as their conflicting emotions intertwine, serving as a theme song that enriches the film. A high school son stands at a crossroads in life, torn between staying by his mother’s side and pursuing his own future, while his single mother, battling a serious illness, prays for a hopeful tomorrow for her child. The result is a heart-wrenching, tear-jerking story in which the fluctuating emotions and love between mother and son strike a deep chord.
