A recording of Chopin’s piano concertos arranged for string quartet.
This live recording features two of Tsuyoshi Hashigo’s Chopin piano concertos, performed over the course of two years in 2017 and 2018. He is joined by Quartet Celesia—a group of up-and-coming musicians formed in 2011—performing Bartomiej Komine’s string quartet arrangements. Chopin is the composer Takayuki Hashigo holds most dear. He has earned a solid reputation for his Chopin performances—including winning the Mayor of Warsaw Prize at the 2000 International Chopin Competition—and his recording of the complete Ballades (SONARE1023) received high acclaim, including being selected as a “Record Arts Special Selection.” Hashi’s Chopin is full of elegance. His flowing tone warmly touches the listener’s heart.
