In the Japanese heavy metal/thrash metal scene that emerged in the 80's, SACRIFICE led the scene with a sound style that stubbornly inherited the NWOBHM musicality and pursued dark, solid riffs and fast rock 'n' roll that could hardly be described as simply "thrash metal". They were called "Japan's Venom" at the time, and were highly acclaimed not only by die-hard metal fans, but also by bands overseas. In January 2020, the band made their long-awaited return after 27 years of silence with a headlining show in New York City with their beloved Midnight, Toxic Holocaust, Devil Master, and others, and they were enthusiastically received by the many punks and metal fans who packed the sold-out venue for the two days of the show.
